280SL also on the cover of the March issue of Motor Klassik (Das Oldtimermagazin).
The article inside does a comparison between the 280SL and a Triumph TR6 for som strange  ;)  reason.

Hi James, I was wondering the same thing... :)
I know that lighting plays a HUGH role on color tones, but I hope my light ivory color looks more white than tan when its finished (some day...).  The bodyshop is still working on it and they dont seem to be in any hurry.  Friday they were out playing golf and no work was done on my car, or others sitting in their shop[:(!].
I just need to be patient...

Hi Bob,

My 1970 280 SL is light Ivory with the cognac interior. It has a fairly recent good quality finish on it. Before I saw it in person for the first time the photos sent to me all appeared much different, I was sure the car was white!! which was the color I was looking for. Most of the photos I have taken of it since show the color much more accurately so the camera and lighting have a lot to do with it.

In my case because I was really looking for a white car I had to get use to the light ivory color in my buying decision. This cover shot appears to be pretty close to how my car looks in person. At the end of the day I'm very happy with the color, I think it suits the car well.

Yes.
I guess the Toyota pickup originally scheduled wasn't available!  :)

dhunter: I take it you mean the comparison should have been Toyota pick-up vs. TR6    :|

Bob G. You should be able to pick a copy up at the Classic Center in Irvine.
In my area, NE Ohio,  Barnes and Noble carry the magazine, but they still do not have the new issue.

Another article, albeit short one, in the Classic and Sports Car magazine, dated March 2008.
On pages 44-45, about Nick Kisch's collection and his real 280SL.

I would guess this is 670 Light ivory BUT the long shadows in the pic suggest its late in the day and in natural sunlight towards dusk the color does appear "darker". This said, at high noon, it appears almost white. I would never call it "tan" or "yellow", however.

The promised Irish driving tour in a Pagoda SL feature in the new Mercedes Benz Classic (02 2008) is a good'un.  Leave it to the Germans to find an Irish country house and restaurant (Tinakilly) that does a smashing lamb recipe that includes Black Forest ham as an ingredient!  Sounds yummy, might have to try making it myself!
