Richard,

The car not only looks fantastic, but truly is fantastic. I know because I saw it with my own skeptical eyes. Congrats on a keeper.

(My only concern is that you may not have noticed the enormous tree growing out of the interior. I understand this can happen when you leave a car parked in a field too long....)

My goodness, do I need to do EVERYTHING?  Does ANYBODY pay attention to the backgrounds of these car shots?  Must be all that bling. [:p] Ooops, can't be.  It's a 280SL. ;)

PS: not enough pixels to finish the hubcap painting job...

Wow. Michael, you're handy with PhotoShop... ;) . Can you re-chrome the hubcaps though... not enough bling!

Peter, you ought to know better!

The lack of paint (before I Photoshopped some on) on the wheel covers indicates REPLACEMENT and the replacements unless they are very old NOS are stainless steel (you call it inox?)not chrome!!

Of course the old paint could just be stripped off.  Let Richard tell us what's going on!

Because it's so beautiful, some jealous lookers are attempting to debase the car by mentioning picayune details...but they have failed! Even with unpainted hubcaps and a tree growing out of the rear seat, it is still a stunning Pagoda.

Actually, the unpainted hubcaps (even though not "correct") go very nicely with the clean lines of the Euro version car.

For those who must look under the lady's skirt and need all the details, the hubcaps were stripped when the car was repainted about two years ago. When the car arrived in my hands a few months ago, the Upper Molding had not yet been re-installed and the hubcaps remained unpainted. It may be a while before the hubcaps are repainted as I like the polished look of the naked caps.

For those who appreciate beauty, be sure to look at the untouched photo of the car in the link at the top of this thread...do not look at the crude attempts to besmirch the car in the other photos posted  here which distort the look of the car through image doctoring by crude (or rude) hands.   :0)

P.S. Why the tree? It was the first Spring-like day in NY. I was having lunch with another Pagoda owner at an outdoor lunch place. I glanced across the road and just snapped the photo. It was not a thought out or 'posed' shot...just a snap.

Call it "Mike's Tree Service".  Not only does a Tree Grow in Brooklyn, but in your back seat as well.  Must be a European Oak.  Funny about all this as I was just asked--seriously--to write an article for The Star (and have it mostly completed) on how to take or not take a photo of your car for The Star!  Look for it soon.  Having trees growing out of the back seat or Dead End signs as hood ornaments all point to inattention to the entire subject--probably because of all that bling.  I'll have to beef up the paragraph on minding the background.

As for the crude and rude hands--sue me.  You're a lawyer, right? ;)

For those waiting for more news about "Ol' Beige", on Sunday she was at the Englishtown Raceway Annual Spring Show in Old Bridge New Jersey.

I was busy doing Spring chores on the car and did not put the Show Registration form on the windshshield (required to allow judging and voting.) I left the form on the seat as I had no interest in having the car judged. I know how good (or not so good) the car is without a judge telling me.

Well, it seems enough attendees liked the car and took the time to look for the form on the seat that Ol' Beige was awarded the trophy for "People's  Choice".

The Elegant design and a nice paint job took home the prize.

Your kind words and congratulations are not necessary.
