Swop manual to auto?

Depending on how expensive my current problem is going to be (see "Jerky Driving" below) I'm considering swopping my manual gearbox for an auto. There is one for sale in Sweden, only a few hours driving from Copenhagen for a reasonable 2500 SEK (420 USD/266 EUR). Is this an easy swop or something that I should forget about?
I've attatched two images of the gearbox in question.

you will need a different drive shaft, idle switch on the inlet manifold, neutral safety switch on the firewall, plus the chrome gear stick mechanism, levers, cover, possibly a different speedo cable etc.
That unit looks very dirty, are the pressure switches on it? what about the oil filler tube?
You would need to buy the fluid converter with it.
Make sure all the parts are with it otherwise you will be searching on the SLS site for parts.
Remember also to have an auto rebuilt could cost $$$$$$.cc
It would be wise to try to find out some history of the car the trans comes from.

It's far easier to go from auto to manual than it is to go from manual to auto. It really doesn't work all that well given all the wiring and things that the standard car just won't have. You would almost want to change the whole harness to make everything work properly.

Going to a standard requires only a few changes at the nuetral switch to get reverse lights and by pass the starter lock out. Not even a thing I'd consider given the simplicity of a 4 speed. if your car is jerking maybe the throttle linkage is adjusted poorly.

Dan & Bob - thanks for your input, didn't realize that it was that difficult, so I'll "stick to the stick", I've already tought my 4 year old son to change gears while I operate the clutch - that's almost the same. Thanks again!
