metric gap (feeler) gauges
«

Does anyone know where I can get a set or individual gap feeler gauges for adjusting the intake & exhaust valves. I need .08mm for the intake & .18mm for the exhaust valves. The set I have does not have the correct increments for .08 & .18.

Paul,
it doesn't have to be metric, you can also use 0.003 and 0.007 inch gauges. They are in many SAE sets.
Otherwise try
http://www.samstagsales.com/
for a metric set.

Alfred, I searched the web and found that Eastern Industries has individual .08mm & .18mm feeler guages. I'll call them Monday. They also have metric feeler gauge sets, but none have the .18mm. size. I really don't want to use the inch near equivelent. But thanks for your response and the info.

Try a tool truck such as MAC, Snap-On, Matco.

Guys,
Feeler guage sets come in a range of sizes, the idea being if there isn`t one of the exact size, you add two or three together ie if you want .08, you could use the .03 and the .05 - hey presto, .08.
Cheers

Hello Guys,
Most sets have the inch and metric dimensions marked on them. The sizes are extremely close at these minute settings. When you consider the wear on the parts, differences made by engine temperature, ambient temperature and the difference each person uses to "feel" the gap a few ten thousandths of an inch is neglegable. You are just kidding yourself if you believe the US measurement incriments are not accurate enough.
In addition you will find that the exact measurements may vary slightly according to your reference material you use. Some say .004 and .008. I prefere the .003" and .007" on used engines since permissable wear makes parts a little looser.
Yes the long individual feeler gauges are the easiest to use!
