He is a small restoration shop recommended by the estate of the deceased owner. Sold to, seemingly, a restorer/dealer sight unseen and without even calling. The seller pegged the $15K price right on. He said he's always had good experiences with eBay but a lot of the cars I saw there indicated they were re-posted due to failure of winning bidders to pay. Personally I would not buy a car unseen, and I'm curious how many people would really call, travel, etc. to find one.
This price seemed a little high to me but apparently there is enough money in them to buy one in this range (without attention to details), work on it, and sell it...
In the 5-6 years since I have paid attention it appears prices have gone up. This seller indicated a recent front page article in Hemmings and also referred me to a periodical called something like Sports Car Market. Nice (not perfect) ones that recently were maybe $20-25K are now $30-40; fixer-uppers are well into the teens. In contrast, the CEs I like have really fallen.
The value is perhaps part of my problem as an owner... too nice to really drive and enjoy?
