Flywheel swap 230 to 280
« on: June 02, 2008, 13:59:12 »
Hello
I have read some posts that suggest the earlier 230 flywheel is counterbalanced to the crankshaft and cannot be used on a later 280 engine.
Is it possible to have a 230 flywheel balanced and then use it on a 280
engine.
I have both a 230manual and 280auto engine but plan to put a 5 speed manual box on the 280 ( which was from a sedan automatic). It seems like i could use my flywheel from the 230 as long as I have it separately balanced???

Thankyou
Mark

Apart from the crankshaft/balancing issue, the manual transmission flywheels of M127 and M130 engines are different. I don't know if anyone has tried to adapt one to the other.
