silicone gease on rubber seals

is it reccomended to use silicone grease on seals to keep the soft and to stop them from drying out

They guy at the classic center suggested NOT using silicon because of interaction with the painted surface that the gaskets/seals would come into contact with.  Don't know if I agree with him or not.

Several years ago, I used a silicone lubricant on some rubber bumper parts that were in firm contact with painted surfaces. I believe the silicone "softened" the paint and it wore off the paint where the contact was. I am no longer a fan of silicone lubricants or any any other preservative with silicone.

I have had excellent results with 303 protectant and it has no silicone. It has a sunscreen built-in and it will keep your exterior seals soft.
