Oil line issues
« on: October 14, 2008, 13:34:39 »
I have an early 1968 Euro 280SL that I've been restoring for the past several years. It has been an exhaustive nut and bolt rotisserie restoration, and I'm finally, almost finished. I've had a really hard time with one oil line that no one seems to be able to solve. I've purchased three, different, flexible oil lines (from the engine to the oil pump) and none of them fit! The hose I seem to need has the same size nuts with a 90 degree metal fitting on each end. I've received several variations of these hoses, but none have this specific size and configuration. Anyone have any input? similar experiences? Thanks for any help

Mark - since the oil pump sits inside the engine block and, off the top of my head, does not have lines attached to it, do you actually mean the oil cooler (that does have rather thick flexbile lines going back and forth to it) or the oil filter housing?

Hi Mark
I have a Euro 68 also, and the upper oil line has 27mm connectors at each end. I've been told that this hose is no longer available. Kevin O'Brian at Miller's Benz suggested that I have one made locally. Hope I can find someone who can fabricate one for me.
The erial on mine is #1640 and I have stright connectors at both ends. Confusing,no?
