My car came with the sideways facing kinder seat. Not ideal in modern conditions

I have looked at options and the best advice seems to be to take the kinder seat out and replace it with the parcel shelf. When doing that, secure mounting points for a child seat underneath the shelf so that the seat is in the middle of the car. Seat must have integral seat belt harness. Kids legs sit atop the transmission tunnel

I have not done this, although have seen a similar set up and it looked OK.

I know there are concerns about roll-over protection.

There is no seat belt involved either. Major concern for me anyway. I have the kinder seat and no technical specs on it. I only used it once to see how my daughter would sit there. It also looks a bit uncomfortable.

I did 60 miles in my kinder seat on Saturday. I'm 1.88m (6'2"!) and was fine.

OK, the lid was off!

 ;)

Regs here are that if the car came with a seat belt, it has to be used. Otherwise, you can take your chances (front or back of the car).

I would want a seat secured to the car, and the kid secured to the seat.
