Tyres and Mud flaps (tires)

My restoration project is nearing the end. I have a number of original old Mercedes Benz sales brochures. It would appear that for the 230 and 250 the option of a wide white wall from the rim out was a factory option. Looks about 1&3/4 inches in diameter  where as with the 280 a 3/4 inch white wall that was about an 1 1/2 inches from the rim edge. As my car is a 250 I am leaning toward the larger white wall that Coker and Diamond Back make although these look wider than the original

Mud flaps were these an option? Does anybody have them on the rear or all four guards? Looking forward to your views and thoughts on both.

Personally, I don't like the idea of making holes in the wheel arches to attach these.

As for the mudflaps I believe it is mandatory in some countries.  If you are mainly interested in preserving your lower rear fenders may I suggest a clear adhesive vinyl.  This invisible protection is used normally on the nose of the car but can be used in other locations.

I second that - don't drill holes! The clear vinyl sounds a good idea, or maybe mudflaps could be clamped on somehow without drilling holes.

Wow,those mud flaps are ugly. They would look good on my Unimog though, they look big enough.
