A visit to H&R Injection - Pix

Hans was kind enough to allow me to snap some pix when I was there last week. A pretty amazing place with some neat Bosch equipment:

Incidentally, this is a pump being calibrated from an old Porsche 911:

It's interesting that there are at least 10 tubes for the injection pump to pump fuel into.  I would guess for an 8 cylinder engine you would need the 8 for the cylinders, 1 for the cold start valve, and 1 for a return line.  Note all the interesting tools hanging on the walls!

Doug - it looks like Hans is possibly near retirement.  Were there any youthful apprentices there?

Is this the same machine that does the Bosch diesel pumps ? I had assumed they were different. I have a local Bosch agent with one of these machines, at least it looks similar, I must ask him if he can do the 113 pump.

Then again, since mine is working perfectly I might be tempting fate !!

At the tech session at Van Dijk's they showed us their Bosch testing & calibration machine - looks quite different, but also similar in that there are glass tubes in which the amount of fuel that is delivered by each chamber is measured exactly. I suppose that is one of the essential characteristics. AFAIK the Porsche mechanical injection pumps were quite similar to 'ours'.
