Odd hole...
« on: November 05, 2008, 11:35:37 »
I have an odd hole. Next to the cigar(ette) lighter, as it used to be called.

It has a blanking grommet in at the moment.

Question for the board. If you had an odd hole, and a free reign as to what a switch might switch, what would you do? Preferably a switch such as the heater fan switch or that matches the lighter...

Bumper mounted fog light switch, hazard light switch (if you don't have that already), electric antenna retraction switch, rear defogger switch...

Also, cloaking device switch, rocket launcher switch, passenger seat ejection switch, rotary knightrider-esque LED display, etc, etc....

The possibilities are endless!

The antenna retractor has it's attraction. The whistle it creates when up - and the radio is playing mp3 or whatever - is a touch annoying.

Obviously, the special agent type devices are already fitted to the car and are voice activated with a heads up display

I've got the odd hole too!
Most probably this is the place for the hazard  switch. In the early 70's, this was a stock feature in some countries. In France,it was first prohibited, and then mandatory (!) during the mid-seventies.On my '71 280SL, it was not fitted but I got the switch as a spare part from PO.

I'd move the headlight switch over there if it wasn't too much work, it's hard to reach where it is.
