Planning a European Event
« on: November 23, 2008, 18:24:29 »
August 2013, a mere 4 1/2 years away sees the anniversary of Herr Bohringer going for a little drive to Sofia

I am mulling over a plan and need your thoughts....

That rally started at Spa and ended in Liege. The car will be 50 years old.

We need to mark the occasion and, in my view, would be best marking it as a marque, rather than a club. So open to all Pagodas regardless of any or all club affiliation. That means the Pagodentreff crew and the SL-Club Pagode group involved too and as the biggest clubs, much of the stuff being done in German

I think it appropriate to ask/seek to involve the Classic Centre - the organise Classic Days annually which is a brilliant event. The support of MB would also potentially mean we could use Spa as a base.

Now, idea....

Base a route around Spa... Nurburgring... Liege (the Marathon Des Routes, the rally Bohringer won became the MDR as an 84 hour event at the 'ring)

LOTS and LOTS to organise, but the earlier we think about it, the better.

I'll try find out who in the Classic Centre to contact.....and have contacted Dominik at Pagodentreff - hopefully he can point me in the direction of the SL-Club

Come on good folks. Ideas and thoughts. A long time away but we have a party to plan!!!

Tosh,

good initiative. I'm all for it. And (as you know) I've set up some drives, and have participated in many more rallies since then... so I'm prepared to help out. I know Cees has contact with the Mercedes Classic organisation, so I'll see if he can help...

Tosh,

Sounds like full time employment to me. But a great idea.

Why not arrange something for next year in the UK also, just to get your eye in? Practice makes perfect and all that.
