Demand for a Yellow Fog Light bulb? Vendor custom run interest?

I have talked to a well known light vendor re: the rare Yellow 35w Fog light bulb (French market)
which fits in lower US & Euro headlight units.

Clear is readily available via Hella & 3rd party Vendors.

Yellow is no longer available, as French market stopped usage in '93.

I have seen the Yellow Fog bulb in use (in St. Tropez, outside Les Caves Roy) and it is very cool / almost vintage Le Mans racer look.

His comment:

"If there is _really_ a provable, money-in-hand demand for these bulbs, we can tool up and make a batch."

I was going to attach a poll or counter, but not sure how.

the ballon is for a modern H$ Halogen type filament

This is 2 prong bulb with longer barrel and no lip for balloon fasteners.

If a vender were to make a run of the "French" 35watt bulbs in amber, I think it could become like the right hand door mirrors that at one time were extremely rare and now are on almost every Pagoda that you see. My interest is at the gee-whizz level. Something that would be cool because no one had ever seen them used on a USA car before. On several of my 108 (USA) cars I replaced the lower 5-1/2" sealed beam with H3 amber fog-lamps from the (USA) 123 series. They bolted in with no modification and the fog light wiring is already there in the head lamp bucket. Again just for the gee-wizz factor.

Would I buy a set of amber 35 watt bulbs? of course, but if half of people with pagodas did too, It wouldn't be the same.

Just do what I did, take apart your bulbs so you have just the base, take apart the replacements, whatever kind you like, and solder them to your base. It is very easy, I put in high wattage white halogens in mine years ago. Maybe I will make up a set of yellows to be cool. It just takes some patience and soldering skills.

I ordered a pair of the "Yellow Baloons" to see how they would fit. I also ordered a pair of yellow 55 watt H3 bulbs and a pair of the original 35 watt BA 20 bulbs as a back up if this halogen conversion didn't work.

By making a simple change in the bend of two of the 4 tabs where the baloons attach to a H4 lamp they will clip securely to the lamp base of the headlight door with an H3 lamp sandwitched in-between the two. I soldered a short length of wire to the 5 prong male wire connecter with a female spade connector at the other end for the H3 bulb to plug into.

I'll take some pics and start a thread on the R&D board with more detailed instructions,

It realy looks as though this baloon was made to do this conversion, Once it gets dark I will go out and see how well they actually light up the road, but from my measurements it looked like the fillament of the H3 is very close to the original position of the BA20's.

If my memory serves correctly, Both the Euro lamps and the 69 and older USA head lamp doors use the same lamp base for the fog lamp and parking lamp bulbs. So it is possible this conversion would work on the fish-bowl headlamps too.
