Clock Question

I was wondering about the "glass" on my clock, it feels more like plastic then the glass of the other instruments.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

The clock (period-correct) on my late 66 230 has a 'plastic glass.' The good news is that any scratches can easily be buffed out using metal polish and a soft rag. Not sure if earlier cars had glass glass or whether my car has had the glass changed over the years.

The date of manufacture is stamped on the back of my clock in blue ink, or maybe it's on the inside; can't recall.

In an article in the Technical Manual Jim Mahaffey writes:
.... 7.  Weathering. Red rouge on a cloth wheel can do wonders for the plating on the brass bezel, and even for scratches on the plastic crystal.
8.  Cracked or smashed crystal (very rare). Use the clock for parts. Assure the owner that they're all just alike, and he won't notice the difference if he buys a new one.  ...


So I guess it is some kind of plexiglass.
