I'm reminded of a famous Ronald Reagan line ... "Where's the rest of me?..." (Long before he was President -- for all you cynics out there...)

At the risk of offending the seller, would we all agree that "very nice" seems a little strong? Anyway, I could use that radio plate that's in the trunk...

This is both painfull and sad to see this, once very nice 113 in such sad shape.  The abuse this poor car has had is terrible!

Oh my goodness! I did not even wait to let all the images load. There was enough in the first several to have me shaking my head. I think those would fill several pages of notes about what would have to be done. Generally, photos on the computer tend to be flattering, so when this much is goofy, you know there are all kinds of issues. Ouch!

Actually, the seats could be treated and have a nice patina-they have rich age creases that I enjoy seeing in these cars.

We already worked that car over, just three months ago with, I assume, its previous owner.

You've got to appreciate the guy's nerve to post, in this new ad;

 IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RARE 230 SL IN VERY GOOD CONDITTION THAT NEEDS SOME MINOR TLC THIS IS THE CAR TO BUY

 <AND>

This vehicle appears to have been pampered and maintained to the highest standard, even to the point of always being garaged.

Pampered and maintained to the highest standard seems a bit of a stretch, IMHO.

Lots of missing chrome, dents everywhere, missing parts and pictures that steer away from things you should see. Nothing on the dash except the guages so how's the wood?
Nothing about this car that couldn't be sorted out but it's already over priced. The mileage in the text doesn't match what's on the guage. Strange VIN number.

I've seen lots of cars like this. I've restored cars worse than this.
 Although over stated by the seller, why is this car junk? I was never aware that EVERYONE has 100 point cars around here - some people do, but ALL of us have one?

 I judge a car by how well it runs and drives, how much rust is present, and then how it looks. I've seen perfect looking cars that had no brakes and wouldn't start or run. And the owner was DRIVING it everywhere like that.......

I've seen cars that look like the dogs breakfast - rusty, dirty, beat up looking, but drove better than almost anything I've sat in. Poor condition doesn't always mean poor quality. A poorly restored car is actually worh LESS than a rough original where everything works and it drives well ( as long as it doesn't have terminal rust )

   Get off your high horses. Or do you not think that someone looking at joining our club/group with a rough car would be a bit put off by such things?

Good points Dan. And if the seller or buyer is lurking, I hope they know its nothing personal. Personally, my beef was with the description. The car is what it is. My hope is the buyer looks at it closely -- then decides based on what he sees. Like you said, lots of cars have imperfections in one area but are strong in others. Mine fits this to a tee: drives & handles like a champ but has some serious issues in the floorboards and sills...

The thing that struck me was how high it is sitting on the suspension. Even with the big wheels, there seems to be a lot of room above the tires.

Returning to the subject of optimistic sellers - anybody else see this car advertised on ebay a couple of months ago?

Great pic, Dave!  Looks like something from the "Discovered" feature in ClassicCars magazine:  "Split-screen Anglia found in Laotian jungle" etc.

There really is a lotof things woring with the car. It looks like its not long enough to be a pagoda. or maybe its the angle ofthe photo. the doors are also mis-aligned. This is more work than its worth. good luck to whoever sent the winning bid. that person must have a lot of time and money.
